True to its mission of serving the railway industry, the Technological Research Institute (IRT) Railenium conducts collaborative research and innovation projects, bringing together academics and industry professionals in partnership with public authorities. Together, they collaboratively develop, validate, and test breakthrough technologies and innovative solutions addressing major societal and technological challenges in the railway sector, both in France and internationally.
Founded in 2012 as part of the Future Investment Plan, Railenium is a Technological Research Institute (IRT) specializing in the railway system. Thanks to the expertise of its teams, Railenium offers skills that help overcome technological and scientific barriers in the fields of artificial intelligence, energy, numerical modeling, telecommunications, reliability (trustworthy AI), and organizational and human factors (OHF).
Based in Hauts-de-France and present in the Paris region, Railenium has, through its expertise in financing engineering and coordinating collaborative projects, led over 80 projects in 10 years, involving around 140 partners and 90 employees.
Since 2017, i-Trans and Railenium have pooled all their tools around a common ambition: to jointly support a strong innovation strategy, meeting the needs of companies in the railway sector to cover the entire innovation process from project emergence to its valorization.
Above all, Railenium is a human adventure aimed at inventing and designing a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable transport system: the railway system of tomorrow.
